Upland Control Structures
Log and Fabric
Structure which can be used when you have an advancing headcut caused by a scour pool that further undercuts the headwall, which subsequently collapses in stages. The erosive action can be stopped if a healthy mat of wet soil plants can become established to hold the headwall in place.
One Rock Dam
A grade control structure with the primary purpose of keeping a gully from eroding deeper. The first step is reversing erosion processes and initiating sediment deposition, water harvesting, nutrient retention, revegetation, and bank stabilization.
Rock Bowl

Structure which can be used to heal low headcuts up to 2 feet high. Rock bowls harden the base of the cut to stop scour and undercutting; protect the face of the headcut from drying, sloughing and frost heave; and conserve moisture for enhanced plant growth. The rocks capture sediments, debris, seeds, and plant propagates, and acts as rock mulch that protects young plants.
Worm Ditch
Also know as a Bypass Channel. Stops a headcut by "starving it for water".
